Motion
control really doesn’t get better than this. Leap Motion have come up with Leap
3D, a super accurate motion control system. It can track motion at around
0.01mm of accuracy which is 100 times better than Microsoft XBOX Kinect.
From the
video and the demo they show, this could really transform the way we use our
computers. Instead of using a mouse we could use gestures like pinch to zoom on
a picture or scrolling up and down on a web page.
It is a very
small device compared to the Kinect and hooks up to your computer via USB. It
has special sensors and cameras which track the movement made by you to a high
degree of accuracy.
The device
is set to launch early next year for $69.99 which around £45 in the UK, which
is half the price of Kinect right now. Unfortunately though, pre-orders are
limited to the US only.
Looks like
this may be a game changer in how we use our computers and laptops
